Our client is growing in line with the market, and we now need to hire an experienced Mechanical Designer / Primary Design Engineer to their wonderful team in Västerås.

Our client is a leading Nordic supplier of turnkey electrical and automation solutions within electrical distribution, industry, and to wind, water, and thermal power plants. They are growing and are now looking for a Mechanical Designer / Primary Design Engineer to join their team at the headquarters in Västerås. They have offices in several locations in the Nordic region. Here, you will play a central role in technically complex projects within electrical power, where you are responsible for ensuring that the primary design meets the right quality and is carried out according to requirements, standards, timelines, and budgets.

You will be part of an established business with strong technical expertise and a close-knit team. About the position

As a Mechanical Designer / Primary Design Engineer, you are responsible for developing and implementing the technical solution within primary design according to requirements, standards, timelines, and budgets. You work closely with the Lead Engineer and others in the project team with the goal of delivering technically sustainable and cost-effective solutions of high quality.

You have a clear responsibility for the primary design in the projects and ensure that documentation, layouts, and construction management materials meet the required level. The working method is characterized by community, flexibility, trust, and quality, and you will receive the support needed to succeed in the role.

About you

This is a role for you who have a strong interest in electrical power and primary facilities. You have a relevant university or college education in mechanical engineering, electrical power, or equivalent, or you have built up equivalent competence through practical experience in electrification and automation projects.

You have experience in primary design within electrical distribution, hydropower, or industry and are comfortable working with layouts, steel structures, foundations, grounding, and cable sizing. You have a good understanding of technical requirements, standards, and project documentation and are accustomed to working with tools such as AutoCAD, Primtech, or MicroStation.

To thrive in the role, you are structured and responsible, with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate closely with others in the team. You are quality-conscious, cost-aware, and see the big picture in the technical solution. You want to contribute to the development of working methods and processes and are happy to share your knowledge through mentorship.

Finally, you have good communication skills, thrive in an open work environment with low thresholds, and are willing to travel for work as needed. You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
